Fiction fridays from @homedad: A celebration of the best books for children. Here is one of our all time favourites:
“The witch had a cat, and a very tall hat, and long ginger hair which she wore in a plait. How the cat purred and how the witch grinned, as they sat on their broomstick, and flew through the wind…”
They are joined on their journey by a dog, a frog and a parrot, but then something terrible happens, and a “beast” saves the day.
Ive read it so many times that I know it pretty much by heart, and J can now just “read” it by himself from memory. See, there is a good side that oh-so-repetitive bedtime story reading which children seem to love so much. Seriously though, its brilliant. Well, it would be, coming from the makers of The Gruffalo. Rhyming books for children are always well loved. And would you believe, its so brilliant that its been made into a live stage show!
