Summer Camp 2011 – Wicksteed Park

Some people may call me crazy. Last week I packed one rucksack and took my son on a 4 1/2 hour train ride to our favourite place to camp. I think I am crazy, but we had such a wonderful time that I wish we could go back again before the summer is over. We visited Wicksteed Park for the first time last year and fell in love with the place. There is so much to see and do that even with two trips we still haven’t done it all. This year, with a bigger tent, a quieter camping field and better knowledge of the park it was an even better experience. Just the two of us, time away from everything else.

Seriously though, if you love to camp, or if you’re looking for a budget holiday or if you just want to give your kids some fantastic memories, its the place to go.

Tomorrow, we are off to spend two nights in a friend’s caravan in the Lake District. A last bit of time away before he starts school: a moment I have been both looking forward to and dreading with equal measure.
