He’s too young to stay up until midnight to see the new year in, but I held his hand as he drifted off to sleep, and wished for a good year ahead for the both of us. Plans for a night of Monopoly and Mojitos were scrapped as my boyfriend was fighting a very bad cold, so instead we stayed in bed with a film and watched out of the window at midnight to see the fireworks and sky lanterns, and listen to the foghorns of the ships at the docks. A very calm start to the new year, not as much fun as planned but nice all the same.
2011 holds many milestones for both of us. I will finish my professional qualification, J will start full time school and I will hopefully start a full time job. J will turn 5 and I will turn 23. We will go on camping holidays and we will finish decorating the house. And there are many more things which I do not know of yet. I am looking forward to the future, not knowing what it holds, but hoping for good things. And what better way to start a new year than with a morning walk together. Today is a good day. Happy New Year to all.
